Georgios “Giorgos” Karagounis (Greek: Γιώργος Καραγκούνης; born 6 March 1977) is a Greek footballer who plays for Fulham in the English Premier League and captains the Greek national football team. Karagounis represented Greece for the first time in 1999, and is currently the most capped player in the history of the national team. He scored the first goal of UEFA Euro 2004, a long range effort that helped his team to win the opening game of the tournament, in which the Greeks emerged as champions.
